The beverages flowed from bottles and taps to glasses, and onward to thirsty mouths at the Mokena Chamber of Commerce's 13th annual Food, Wine and Beer Festival, held Sept. 10 at Main Park in Mokena. The fest featured 24 vendors including Baderbrau Brewery from Mokena, Original Island Shrimp House from Palos Park, Warrior Vodka from Oak Forest and Harvest Room from Palos Heights. Four bands including Five Guys Named Moe entertained attendees who dined, drank and danced on an ideal late-summer afternoon.

Lockport Township running back Tavares Moore ran for 175 yards and a touchdown, and quarterback Ben Davis booted three field goals including what proved to be the game-winner as the Porters topped Lincoln-Way Central 16-14 last Friday in the SouthWest Suburban Conference opener for both teams. The Porters with the victory remained unbeaten through three games, while the Knights fell to 2-1. Central running back Mitch Hosman paced the Knights with 81 yards rushing and a TD in the first meeting between the schools since 2012.
